Definition of Event Details
Name:
Name or feature title of the festival / event.
Category:
The main category will always be Heritage. You have the ability to pick an additional 2 categories (in 'related') that the festival / event can also be classified as. These enable visitors to narrow searches for the particular type of events they are looking for.
Examples
Agriculture -events pertaining to agriculture such as flower shows, exhibitions, plant sales, etc.
Animals - events involving animals such as harness racing, dog shows, ox pulls, etc.
Antiques - events showcasing various types of antiques whether they be auctions, antique car shows, etc.
Arts / Crafts - events where arts and crafts are features such as gallery openings, special exhibits, craft shows, quilts displays, etc.
Cars / Motorcycles - events featuring cars or motorcycles such car rallies, antique car shows, car washes, car racing, etc.
Celebrations - events where the community gathers to celebrate their history, culture, area, etc. through special events, parades, fairs, picnics, etc.
Children's Events - events where the programming is centered around kids such as day camps, March Break activities, etc.
Clan / Family Gatherings - events gathering families together such as clan gatherings or family reunions, etc.
Culture - events celebrating the cultural life such as Acadian, Gaelic, Aboriginal, Loyalist, etc.
Food - events centered around food such as teas, suppers, chowders, picnics, BBQ's, etc.
Heritage - events celebrating our history such as museum events, home tours, cemetary walks, etc.
Holidays - events celebrating a special holiday such as Canada Day, Christmas, Halloween, Mother's Day, etc.
Marine - events on or around the water such as fishing derbies, sailing races, dory rows, etc.
Military - events celebrating our miliary history and culture such as tattoos or Remembrance Day activities
Music - events featuring or showcasing our musical talents such as ceilidhs, concerts, dances, etc.
Outdoor - events that are centered around our natural aspects such as trail walks, birding, canoe rallies, etc.
Performing Arts - events such as theatre, opera, musicals, etc.
Sport / Recreation - events such as hockey tournaments, curling bonspeils, baseball, marathons, relay races, etc.
Travelway:
Select the appropriate travelway on which your event will take place. If it overlaps travelways, pick the one where the majority of activities will take place.
Community:
Select a community from the options where your event will take place. You must only select from the menu - if your community is not listed, please type in the name of the community in the section 'Community (other)' and the Administrator will review to add to the list.
Community (other):
Only enter a community name here if it does not appear in the list above.
Location:
Provide the specific details of where the event is taking place in the community, ie. a specific address, a community centre, a ball field, a park, on the waterfront, etc.
Designation:
These are determined by specified criteria and are classified to your event by the Administrator. Click here for information on designation criteria (link).
Related:
As per #2 - Category, you can pick an additional 2 categories for cross referencing of your event. Eg. Apple Blossom Festival is categories as a Celebration (it's a community gathering), Music (they feature a number of concerts) and Arts/ Craft (craft shows are held in conjunction with the event).
Description:
Provide the details behind the festival / event such as any explanations of historical significance, hours of operations, special guests, information that the visitor should know, rain dates, etc. Do not include dates, locations, admission charges or contact information - this information is provided elsewhere in the listing.
Website:
Provide a working address allows the visitor to connect directly to your website for additional information on your festival / event.
Admission:
Include details on prices relevant to visitors such as tickets, gate fees, family or group rates, packages, etc.
Years Running:
Indicates whether the event is new or has historical importance.
Previous Attendance:
While this information is not displayed to the visitor, it provides appropriate information to the Administrator for consideration of Designation status.
Parking Spaces (car):
Please indicate how many vehicles can be accommodated. This information does not appear on the listing on the website.
Parking Spaces (bus):
Please indicate how many motorcoaches can be accommodated. This information does not appear on the listing on the website.
Services:
Please check the appropriate boxes to indicate what additional services your festival / event offers. These will be indicated on the listing.
Management Option:
Once you have entered the information relevant to the festival / event, you will check both boxes. 'Approve this draft immediately' will send notification to the Administrator that your event has been added or updated and will be checked for accuracy prior to posting to the website. 'Schedule this event now' will move you to the section of the program that allows you to associate particular dates with your event.
